Rob Gronkowski of the New England Patriots is one of the most talented footballers and one of the most colorful personalities in the NFL. He was recently part of a couple of WWE segments and he appears to have a future as a WWE superstar after his NFL career is over.
In an interview with TMZ Sports, Rob Gronkowski’s real-life friend and WWE superstar Mojo Rawley revealed that Vince McMahon is interested in signing “Gronk” after his career in football is over. He noted that Gronkowski is focused on football but fans will definitely see him inside a WWE ring again.
“Of course, we’ve explored that opportunity but Gronk’s focused on his career right now. He’s been training real hard and yeah, he’s been having a little bit of fun with us the past couple of weeks but he doesn’t let that take away from his NFL career, from the Patriots, so he’s staying focused,” Rawley said.
According to Dan Hanzus of NFL.com, Rob Gronkowski will eventually become a part-time WWE superstar after he retires from football. He noted that “Gronk” has had his fair share of injuries and he won’t be playing into his mid-30s. The Patriots are also known for parting ways to their superstars when they reach a certain age.
Many fans were thrilled to see Rob Gronkowski at WrestleMania 33. After getting doused in water by Jinder Mahal, he entered the ring and attacked “The Maharajah” with a hard shoulder block. He then appeared this past week on SmackDown Live to pour beer on Mahal’s face during his match against Mojo Rawley.
Even Jinder Mahal has continued his feud with Rob Gronkowski on his interviews. He wants the two-time Patriots to be banned from the WWE. It seems like the two are going to feud for a very long time until “Gronk” becomes a WWE superstar.
In an interview with Draft Kings, per Complex, in 2016, Rob Gronkowski revealed his desire to be a part-time WWE superstar. He wants his wrestling name as “The Gronk” with spiking his opponent’s head into the mat as his finisher.
