Jeremy Lin is looking forward to next season after a strong showing by the Brooklyn Nets since he returned from injury after the All-Star break. He is also satisfied with his current leadership role with the Nets and he expects to have the same role next season.
In an interview with Newsday, Jeremy Lin revealed that he is optimistic about the Nets’ offseason. He believes that things are looking up for the franchise despite finishing the season with a record of 20-62. Their final record does not show how much they have improved since he returned from injury.
Jeremy Lin also added that he is happy being the team leader of the Nets. It is one of the reasons why he decided join Brooklyn this past summer and sign a three-year, $36 million contract. He is looking forward to having the same leadership role in his second year with the Nets.
“I completely trust what they’re doing and everything they laid out. There’s no issues at all with my communication with them. I know the role they want me to have. They want me to be the guy, they want the ball in my hands. So I don’t really struggle with that. They’ve never wavered from that,” Lin said.
The Nets will have money to add veteran pieces to the team this offseason to make them more competitive. They can add a point guard just in case Jeremy Lin gets hurt again next season. He missed 45 games due to a couple of hamstring injuries and a sprained right ankle.
Jeremy Lin told Nets Daily that he believes they have done enough in the last couple of months of the regular season to make Brooklyn an interesting destination for free agents. He believes Brooklyn is a not a hard sell and he is willing to make his pitch to players who needs new homes.
Some of the free agents that might have an interest in joining Jeremy Lin, Brook Lopez and the Nets next season include Jeff Green, Serge Ibaka, Taj Gibson, Ersan Ilyasova, J.J. Redick, Nikola Mirotic, Patty Mills, Alex Len and Nerlens Noel.
